FOOD
Armadillos will eat almost anything.
They like termites and ants.
They eat beetles, worms, and snails.
They eat snakes and lizards.
They eat roots and fruit.
They even eat dead animals.

ENEMIES
Humans take over land that was the armadillos' home.
They use it to build homes and stores
for themselves.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Armadillos live in grasslands and forests.

 

DID YOU KNOW?
  • The name armadillo means “little armored one” in Spanish.
  • An armadillo can hold its breath for more than 5 minutes. This helps the armadillo when it is digging tunnels. It also lets armadillos stay under the water for a long time. They cross ponds and streams by walking on the bottom.
  • Armadillos have sticky tongues. They use them to lap up insects.
