DID YOU KNOW?
- The name armadillo means “little armored
one” in Spanish.
- An armadillo can hold its breath for more than 5
minutes. This helps the armadillo when it is digging tunnels. It also lets armadillos stay
under the water for a long time. They cross ponds and streams by walking on the bottom.
- Armadillos have sticky tongues. They use them to
lap up insects.
