KIND OF ANIMAL: Insect

FOOD
Bees buzz around flowers looking for pollen and nectar.
Nectar is the sugar water made by flowers. Pollen is the yellow dust you can find
in flowers.
It helps plants make seeds.

ENEMIES
Many people don’t like bees because
they sting.
Birds also eat bees.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Bees live in hives that they build in
hollow trees.
They also build hives inside walls, in roofs and in attics.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • There are lots of different kinds of bees.
  • Bees help plants. They get pollen and nectar from plants. They move pollen from one plant to another. Now the plant can make seeds.
  • Bees don’t just sting people, they help them, too. Without bees, some plants would not be able to make new plants. We would not have as much food.
