KIND OF ANIMAL: Mammal
 

FOOD
Deer mice eat seeds and fruit.
They eat insects.
They also nibble on dead animals.

ENEMIES
Lots of animals hunt for deer mice.
Owls, weasels, foxes, and snakes like
to eat them.
So do skunks, lynx, raccoons, bears, coyotes and wolves.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Deer mice live in many places.
They live in forests, fields and prairies.
In the winter, they like to come indoors.

 

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Deer mice have lots of babies. Baby deer mice grow up very fast. Then they have their own babies. Lots of animals eat deer mice because there are so many of them.
  • Father deer mice help mother deer mice take care of the babies.
  • Some deer mice spread germs in their poop.
