KIND OF ANIMAL: Bird

FOOD
Woodpeckers love insects.
They also eat fruit and seeds.

ENEMIES
Owls and hawks hunt for woodpeckers.
So do weasels and foxes.

WHERE THEY LIVE
You can find woodpeckers in the forest. They also live in parks and yards.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Tap! Tap! Tap! A woodpecker needs a very strong beak. It needs a strong head too. That’s because it spends its days pecking holes in trees. Inside the holes it finds insects to eat.
