Frogs, fish, and snakes all like to eat newts.
Some big birds like to eat them too.
So do weasels, otters, and muskrats. |

WHERE THEY LIVE
Newts live in the forest.
They live near lakes and rivers.
They need to be where it is wet. |

DID YOU KNOW?
- Baby newts hatch from eggs. They live in the water.
- After a while, newts crawl onto the land. They turn
red with spots. They stay on land for a few years.
- When they are all grown up, they turn a dark color.
Their tails get bigger. Then they go back and live in the water.
