FOOD
These butterflies eat nectar, which is sugar water that plants make.
Some of the nectar they like best comes from violets, goldenrod, and milkweed.

ENEMIES
Birds eat fritillary butterflies.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Fritillary butterflies live in fields and
near woods.
You will also see them flying in open spaces near trees and in gardens.

 

DID YOU KNOW?
  • The fritillary butterfly has six legs like other insects. Its front legs are smaller than its other legs. It uses its four big legs for walking.
  • Fritillaries have dark colored wings. They have light colored spots on them.
  • Fritillary caterpillars have little spikes sticking out of their bodies.
