KIND OF ANIMAL: Bird

FOOD
Juncos look for seeds and insects to make a meal.

ENEMIES
Owls and hawks hunt for juncos.
So do foxes, weasels, and cats.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Juncos make their homes near trees and bushes.
They also live in fields, mountains and near houses.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Juncos love to hang out at birdfeeders in the winter. They visit birdfeeders so much in the wintertime that some people call them the “Eastern Snowbird.”
  • You may spot a junco flying at your feet in the woods. They like to build their cup-shaped nests close to the ground.
