Katydids eat plants.
They eat leaves from trees and bushes.

ENEMIES
Many animals eat katydids.
Birds and bats eat them.
So do small mammals.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Katydids live where there are leaves.
They live in forests and in fields.
You can sometimes see them in parks.

  • Katydids have wings that look like leaves. They are difficult to spot in a tree.
  • Katydids are in the same family as grasshoppers.
  • Grasshoppers like to jump. Katydids would rather fly.
  • Katydids have very long feelers called antennae. They stick out from the katydid’s head. Sometimes their antennae are longer than their whole body!
