KIND OF ANIMAL: Bird

FOOD
Towhees eat insects.
They eat fruits, and nuts, and seeds.

ENEMIES
Owls and hawks hunt for towhees.
So do foxes and weasels.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Towhees live in clearings in the forest.
Those are open places with trees around them.
They also live at the edge of the forest and in bushes.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • If you hear a rustle-rustle, that might be a towhee. They hop backwards through the leaves. As they hop, they turn them over. Under the leaves they find seeds to eat.
  • Towhees build their nests on the ground or near the ground.
