KIND OF ANIMAL: Bird

FOOD
Blue jays are fond of acorns and other seeds.
They eat insects and fruits.
Sometimes they steal eggs from other birds’ nests and eat them.

ENEMIES
Owls and hawks hunt for blue jays.
So do weasels, foxes, and house cats.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Blue jays live in the forest.
They live in parks and yards too.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • A blue jay is easy to spot because of its bright color and pointy head.
  • Blue jays are not shy birds.
  • They plant oak trees. When blue jays have extra acorns, they bury them. Sometimes the acorns grow.
  • Blue jays raid other birds’ nests. They steal eggs and eat them. Sometimes they even steal baby birds.
