KIND OF ANIMAL: Bird

FOOD
Bobolinks eat insects and seeds. One of their favorite foods is rice.

ENEMIES
Owls and hawks hunt for bobolinks.
So do weasels and foxes.
Some farmers do not like bobolinks.
The bobolinks steal the rice that the farmers are growing.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Bobolinks live in fields and meadows. Sometimes they spend time in marshes.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • Bobolinks like rice so much that some people call them “rice birds.”
  • Bobolinks have summer homes and winter homes. These homes are very far apart. They may be more than 6,000 miles apart!
  • Before they travel between their homes, bobolinks gather in huge groups. That way they can fly together.
