Broad-winged Hawk

FOOD
A broad-winged hawk eats meat. It hunts for small animals and baby birds to eat. It also catches fish.

ENEMIES
Sometimes people don’t like hawks because they think the hawks steal chickens.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Broad-winged hawks live in the forest.
They also live wherever there are groups of trees.

 

DID YOU KNOW?
  • There are lots of broad-winged hawks in the United States.
  • They are small for hawks. They are about the same size as a crow.
  • They fly to winter homes in South America. They travel with lots of friends - sometimes about 8,000 of them!
