KIND OF ANIMAL: Bird

FOOD
Starlings eat insects and fruit.
They also eat grubs, which are baby insects. Grubs look a little like worms.

ENEMIES
Owls and hawks hunt for starlings.
So do foxes, weasels and cats.

WHERE THEY LIVE
Starlings live in many places.
They live in cities in yards and gardens. They live on farms.
They live in the forest and in marshes.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • People brought starlings to the United States from Europe. Starlings have been here for about 100 years.
  • Starlings have hurt other birds by taking over their nesting spots.
  • Starlings like to hang out with their friends. They make a lot of noise. There are so many of them here that some people wish they would go away!
