DESCRIPTION
  • Black bears rarely attack humans, but if they are provoked, they can be dangerous.
  • They are good climbers and swim well.
  • Their sense of smell is much better than their eyesight.
  • Black bears are not all black, but can be silvery gray, reddish brown, or chocolate colored.
  • They are scavengers who are known for pawing through garbage and stealing food from campsites.
  • Black bears hibernate for 5 to 7 months each year.
