DESCRIPTION
  • The name centipede means 100 legs. This is a pretty good estimate since they usually have between 15 and 177 pairs of legs.
  • No matter how many legs it has, the first pair are poisonous claws. The centipede uses these to catch its prey.
  • Centipedes do sometimes bite humans. The bite is painful, but not deadly unless a person is allergic to their poison.
