DESCRIPTION
  • Cowbirds lay their eggs in other birds’ nests. Usually they take out one of the other bird’s eggs and put in one of their own in its place. They do this to 30-40 nests a year.
  • Cowbirds get their unusual name from their habit of following cattle and other large animals. When the large animals graze their hooves stir up the insects, giving the cowbirds a feast.
