DESCRIPTION
  • Dragonflies get their name from their powerful jaws, which they use to catch their insect prey. They are such good hunters, they are sometimes called “mosquito hawks.” They look frightening, but don’t hurt people.
  • Dragonflies have existed since before there were dinosaurs!
  • Dragonflies are insects but they are not flies. They have four wings, while flies only have two.
  • Young dragonflies are called nymphs. They live in the water and eat tiny fish, tadpoles, and mosquito larvae. They breathe using gills.
