DESCRIPTION
  • In bright sunlight, a male indigo bunting is a startling iridescent blue color. However, in poor light, they may look black. The females are a dull brown.
  • In spring and early summer you may spot a male indigo bunting perched at the top of a tree singing. Indigo buntings keep on singing in the heat of the day, when other birds have stopped.
  • Indigo buntings eat many insect pests and weed seeds.
