DESCRIPTION
  • There are a variety of lungless salamanders. These unusual animals live on the land, but have no lungs. Instead, they breathe through their skins. In order to breathe, they must stay moist. If they dry out, they will die.
  • Red backed and slimy salamanders are common lungless salamanders.
  • If you’re too rough with a slimy salamander, don’t be surprised if it slimes you!
