DESCRIPTION
  • If you spot a swallow, chances are that it will be in flight. You can recognize it by its long forked tail, long pointed wings and the reddish patch on its throat.
  • Swallows catch insects while in flight. They only come down to the ground to collect mud for their nests.
  • Several swallows will play a flying game of catch using a feather instead of a ball.
  • Swallows migrate south for the winter, with some flying as far as the southern tip of South America!
