DESCRIPTION
  • You can tell the toad from its cousin the frog by its dry, bumpy skin.
  • When a toad grows too large for its skin it has an unusual way of removing it. The skin splits, the toad wiggles out, and pulls the skin from its fingers and toes. The toad then eats its old skin.
  • The toad has excellent protection from predators. It makes a nasty tasting poison which discourages hungry animals from eating it.
  • Humans often kill toads by accident by running them over.
