DESCRIPTION
  • The bald eagle is the national emblem of the United States. It appears on every dollar bill.
  • Bald eagles are large birds. Their wingspan can be as large as 8 feet, but they weigh no more than 13 pounds.
  • The female is larger than the male.
  • Bald eagles keep the same mate for life.
  • They used to be an endangered species but in 1995 there were enough of them to move them to the threatened list.
