southern Canada

FOOD:
Carnivore - chipmunks,
   shrews, voles, frogs,
   lizards, baby birds,
   crayfish, fish, centipedes,
   earthworms

PREDATORS:
Humans

HABITAT:
Woodlands, groves

DESCRIPTION

These birds of prey are not especially large. They are about the same size as a crow.
They migrate south to Central and South America in the winter. They fly in groups called "kettles." There may be as many as 8,000 hawks in a group.
