Ruby-throated hummingbirds are only 3 1/2
long and weigh 1/8 ounce, but their wings beat about 50 times a minute and they can fly up
to 50 miles per hour!
They spend the winter in Mexico, Central America,
or the Caribbean Islands, then migrate north in the spring.
Both males and females have bright green backs, but
only the male has a bright red throat.
