House sparrows are everywhere! They were brought to
North America from England in the 1800s and have made themselves at home. While they do
eat some insect pests, they can be a nuisance to farmers because they eat so much grain.
House sparrows are so well-suited to city living
that they have no need to migrate.
Sometimes house sparrows tend to become very
aggressive. They follow robins, picking up bits of dropped food, and will even try to
snatch it away from the larger birds.
