TYPE:   BIRD 


RANGE:
Northeastern U.S.

FOOD:
Insects, fruits such as
blackberries, elderberries
and wild grapes

PREDATORS:
Birds of prey, foxes,
weasels

HABITAT:
Fields with small bushes,
thick underbrush

 


DESCRIPTION
  • The yellow-breasted chat is the largest member of the warbler family.
  • There are fewer chats on the East coast than there were before. This is because their habitat is being destroyed.
  • Sometimes when it sings, the chat can make its voice sound like it is coming from many different directions at the same time.
