I just did the most wonderful
program with Marvin Minsky and his wife Gloria at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in
the Media Lab. Downstairs in the lower lobby about 60 people came together at lunchtime
and we dancced. We danced the Appalachain Trail Song and Dance, and then we said hello,
goodbye and thank you to each other in about 3 or 4 different languages. And it was so
goofy and it was so much fun because these are some of the greatest geniuses and
technological scientists in the world. And there we were dancing together and it became a
kind of a company I would have been proud to take to Broadway. Then the next day, I was at
Harvard University Graduate School of Education with my friend Howard Gardner, and lots of
his students who are working on doctorates in teaching techniques. We danced for over an
hour together. And at the end of the day, I taught a whole bunch of children about 3 or 4
years old. They learned how to conduct an orchestra and to say hello, goodbye and thank
you in 3 different languages. This was one of the best days in my life. MIT, the Media
Lab, Marvin and Gloria Minsky, Howard Gardner and Harvard students, and then these
children.. and it all came together on one day.. my birthday. Oh, a full moon too! What
could be better?
