Garter Snake

DESCRIPTION
  • You might see this small, common snake sunning itself on a rock or the deck of a pool.
  • If you spot a snake in a suburban park, it is likely a garter snake.
  • You can recognize this snake by the long, narrow stripe down the middle of its back.
  • Garter snakes are often kept as pets.
  • Ribbon snakes look like their close relatives, the garter snake, but are longer and thinner. They are good snakes and spend a lot of time near water.
