DESCRIPTION
The
vulture is easily recognized
by its sleek, black feathers
and naked red head. It is
almost as large as an
eagle.
Although
many people are disgusted by
the vultures diet, it
does an important job of
recycling. Unlike most birds,
the turkey vulture seems to
have an excellent sense of
smell which guides it towards
its meals.
Vultures
from the northern U.S. migrate
south in flocks.
